Winterflood Securities

Founded in 1988 by 37 former County NatWest staff, Winterflood was acquired by Close Brothers in 1993. Marex completed its acquisition of Winterflood Securities on December 1, 2025, while the separate Winterflood Business Services custody business was subsequently sold to Epiris in June 2026.

Winterflood provides liquidity and execution services to institutional investors, retail brokers and asset managers across UK, European and North American equities, investment trusts, exchange-traded products and fixed income. Its offering also includes investment-trust research, corporate advisory, equity and debt capital-markets support, and retail distribution through the Winterflood Retail Access Platform.

The firm is especially strong in UK equity market making and investment trusts, combining established trading relationships with technology-led execution. Its WRAP platform gives issuers and intermediaries a route to retail investors in IPOs, placings and debt offerings.
