Waters Corporation

Founded in 1958 by James L. “Jim” Waters, the company began as Waters Associates and is headquartered in Milford, Massachusetts. It has developed from a specialist instrument maker into a global laboratory-technology business serving pharmaceutical, industrial, academic, government, food, environmental, and materials customers.

Waters designs, manufactures, sells, and services high-performance liquid chromatography, ultra-performance liquid chromatography, mass spectrometry, chromatography consumables, and laboratory software. Its TA Instruments business adds thermal analysis, rheometry, and calorimetry products for characterizing chemicals, polymers, batteries, pharmaceuticals, and other materials.

Its strongest position is in regulated, high-volume testing workflows, particularly pharmaceutical quality control, drug development, separations, and LC-MS analysis. The company also completed its acquisition of BD’s Biosciences & Diagnostic Solutions business on February 9, 2026, broadening its current scope into bioscience tools and diagnostics.
