Virgin Media O2

Virgin Media O2 launched on 1 June 2021 as a 50:50 joint venture between Liberty Global and Telefónica, combining Virgin Media’s fixed communications business with O2’s UK mobile operations. It is headquartered in Reading and operates across the UK.

The company provides broadband, mobile, television, fixed-line telephony and business connectivity to residential customers, organisations and public-sector bodies. Its main strategic strength is convergence: combining fixed broadband and mobile services through propositions such as Volt, while investing in gigabit broadband, 4G and 5G network coverage.

Virgin Media O2 also operates a wholesale mobile network used by brands including giffgaff, Sky Mobile and Tesco Mobile. Its scale, large fixed footprint and combination of consumer, business and wholesale operations make it a significant UK telecoms employer for students interested in commercial, technology, finance, operations or infrastructure roles.
