Founded in Washington, D.C., in 1987, The Carlyle Group is a global investment firm with $485 billion in assets under management, more than 2,500 professionals and 28 offices across four continents. It invests on behalf of institutional investors and other clients through a broad private-markets platform.

Carlyle operates through three main segments: Global Private Equity, Global Credit and Carlyle AlpInvest. Its strategies include buyouts, growth capital, real estate, infrastructure, direct lending, liquid and opportunistic credit, insurance solutions, co-investments and private-equity secondaries.

The firm is especially strong in platform breadth and credit scale: as of December 31, 2025, its Global Credit segment represented $211.3 billion of assets under management, compared with $163.5 billion in Global Private Equity and $102.0 billion in Carlyle AlpInvest.
