Tencent Holdings Limited

Founded in 1998 and headquartered in Shenzhen, Tencent has been listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange since 2004. It grew from messaging products such as QQ into a broad consumer and enterprise technology group.

Tencent operates Weixin and WeChat, digital entertainment and gaming businesses, advertising services, fintech products, cloud computing and other enterprise technology services. Its gaming portfolio includes major internally developed titles such as Honour of Kings, alongside international businesses and partnerships including Riot Games and Epic Games.

Its main strength is the combination of a very large social platform, payments and content ecosystem with highly monetisable games and growing business-services operations. In 2025, value-added services remained its largest reporting segment, while marketing services and FinTech and Business Services also contributed substantial revenue; Tencent is also applying AI across advertising, games, Weixin and cloud products.
