StoneX traces its origins to Saul Stone’s Chicago farm-products business, founded in 1924. The company later evolved through the FCStone and INTL FCStone businesses, rebranding as StoneX Group Inc. in 2020 after acquiring GAIN Capital, the owner of FOREX.com and City Index.

Today, StoneX connects commercial, institutional, payments and self-directed clients to global markets. Its services include market intelligence, hedging, futures and options brokerage, clearing, physical commodity trading, securities execution, FX, cross-border payments, custody and retail trading.

The firm is especially strong in market access and risk management across fragmented commodity and financial markets. Its combination of commercial hedging, listed and OTC derivatives, physical commodities, clearing infrastructure and digital retail platforms gives interns exposure to a broader mix of financial-market activities than a conventional investment bank.
