Starling Bank

Founded in 2014 and headquartered in London, Starling Bank is a fully licensed UK bank built without a branch network. It offers personal, joint, multi-currency and business accounts through its app, with features covering payments, savings, budgeting and account management.

Starling is especially strong in digital customer experience, business banking and financial infrastructure. Its Marketplace connects customers with third-party financial services, while Engine by Starling packages its banking technology as a software-as-a-service platform for external institutions.

The bank has moved beyond the typical loss-making challenger-bank model: for the year ended 31 March 2026, the Starling Group reported £887m in revenue and £217m in profit before tax. Its growth is increasingly tied to scaling its core banking franchise alongside Engine's international platform business.
