Soros Fund Management

Founded by George Soros more than 50 years ago, Soros Fund Management has evolved from its hedge-fund origins into a family office and global asset manager. It serves as the principal asset manager for the Open Society Foundations and does not accept outside investors beyond eligible family clients.

SFM invests across public and private equity, credit, fixed income, foreign exchange, macro strategies, and other alternative assets. Its permanent capital base and unconstrained mandate allow it to invest both opportunistically and for the long term, including during market dislocations.

The firm is particularly notable for its flexible, conviction-led investment approach: it employs more than 25 portfolio managers across equities, credit, and macro strategies, while combining internal investment management with external-manager partnerships. Its current footprint includes five offices and approximately 200 employees.
