About Ørsted

Ørsted was formed as DONG Energy in 2006 through the merger of Denmark’s state-owned oil and gas company with five other energy businesses. In 2017, after divesting its oil and gas production activities, it adopted the Ørsted name and completed its shift toward renewable energy.

The company develops, constructs, owns, and operates offshore wind farms, alongside onshore wind, solar, battery storage, bioenergy, and energy-trading activities. Its operations span Europe, North America, and Asia-Pacific, with headquarters in Fredericia, Denmark.

Ørsted is especially strong in offshore wind: it operates 30 offshore wind farms and had 10.2 GW of installed offshore capacity by mid-2025. Its experience covers the full project lifecycle, from development and construction through long-term operations and energy-market management.
