Established in Cape Town in 1845 as South Africa’s first mutual life-insurance company, Old Mutual has developed into a listed pan-African financial services group. Its current operations span 12 countries across Africa and China, with more than 27,000 employees in its primary operations and niche China business.

The group serves retail, corporate and institutional customers through life and savings, personal finance and wealth management, asset management, employee benefits, property and casualty insurance, banking and lending. Its offering is distributed through advisers, branches, digital channels and institutional relationships.

Old Mutual is especially strong in Southern African insurance, advice-led wealth management and institutional investment management. Its investment arm has particular depth in specialised fixed income and credit, infrastructure and renewable-energy investing, and responsible investment.
