Nuveen

Nuveen traces its history to 1898, when John Nuveen founded a Chicago firm focused on underwriting public infrastructure projects. TIAA acquired Nuveen in 2014 and combined it with TIAA’s asset-management business; today, Nuveen serves as TIAA’s investment manager.

The firm manages public and private-market strategies across fixed income, equities, real estate, real assets, private capital, and multi-asset portfolios. Its clients include institutional and individual investors, and its platform operates across 32 countries with more than 1,800 institutional clients in 42 countries.

Nuveen is particularly strong in municipal bonds, real estate, infrastructure, farmland, timberland, and other income-oriented or alternative investments. Its real-assets platform is a major differentiator, while its fixed-income business builds on a long history in municipal finance and offers public and private credit strategies.
