MS Amlin

MS Amlin traces its modern identity to Amlin, which Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance acquired on February 1, 2016, before rebranding the business as MS Amlin. It is part of MS&AD Insurance Group, a global insurance group, and operates across Lloyd’s, the UK, Middle East and Asian markets.

The business provides commercial insurance, reinsurance and newer portfolio solutions. Its insurance activities cover areas including property, casualty, marine, natural resources and crisis management, while its reinsurance business serves other insurers and can include access to capital markets.

MS Amlin is especially relevant for students interested in specialty underwriting, broker-led distribution, claims, actuarial work, risk modelling and insurance innovation. Its current focus includes complex and non-standard risks, algorithmic “fast follow” platforms, cross-class facilities and an incidental Lloyd’s syndicate launched in January 2026.
