About Moody's Corporation
Founded in 1909 as a credit-rating agency, Moody’s Corporation has evolved into a public financial-information company focused on credit risk, market intelligence and decision-support tools. Its Moody’s Ratings business assesses the creditworthiness of companies, financial institutions, governments, structured-finance vehicles and project-finance issuers.
Moody’s also provides research, company and securities data, financial models, economic analysis and cloud-based software for banking, insurance and KYC workflows. Its products are used by businesses, governments and financial-market participants to evaluate borrowers, monitor portfolios, manage regulatory and compliance risk, and assess emerging risks such as cyber, climate and supply-chain disruption.
The firm is especially strong in fixed-income research and credit assessment. In 2024, Moody’s analysts rated more than $6 trillion of debt, while its DataHub offered access to more than 600 million public and private entities, 6.8 million current and historical Moody’s ratings, and 2.9 million M&A transactions.
