Mediobanca

Founded in Milan on 10 April 1946 by Raffaele Mattioli and Enrico Cuccia, Mediobanca was created to support the reconstruction, development and internationalisation of Italian industry. It became part of the Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena group in September 2025 following MPS's public acquisition offer.

Today, Mediobanca combines Corporate & Investment Banking with Wealth Management and Consumer Finance. Its wealth-management business includes Mediobanca Premier, Mediobanca Private Banking and CMB Monaco, while Compass provides consumer credit. The group reported €3.6 billion of revenue and €1.2 billion of net income on a 12-month pro-forma basis to December 2025.

Its clearest strength for prospective investment-banking interns is Italian corporate finance: Mediobanca ranked first in Italy by M&A deal count in 2024, advising on 45 transactions. The group is also building a sizeable wealth-management platform, with €85 billion of AUM/AUA and €929 million of revenue at December 2025.
