McLaren’s racing team was founded by Bruce McLaren in 1963, while McLaren Automotive developed into a dedicated road-car business after the launch of its first modern production model in 2011. The brand’s automotive and racing activities are linked by a focus on lightweight construction, performance engineering and technology transfer.

McLaren Automotive designs and builds luxury performance cars, including models based on carbon-fibre monocoque technology. McLaren Racing competes in Formula 1 and IndyCar, and is scheduled to enter the FIA World Endurance Championship’s Hypercar class in 2027.
