About Lothian Pension Fund
Lothian Pension Fund has operated in its current form since 1975 and administers the Local Government Pension Scheme across Edinburgh and the Lothians. It is a multi-employer, asset-backed public-sector pension fund overseen by the City of Edinburgh Council.
LPF invests contributions to meet members’ long-term retirement benefits across equities, bonds, infrastructure, property and other private-market assets. Its distinctive feature is the scale of its internal investment capability: LPF reports that 93% of assets are managed in-house, while its FCA-authorised investment company, LPFI, also advises and manages mandates for partner funds.
The fund is particularly strong in long-term, institutionally scaled investing, infrastructure and stewardship. Its 2025/26 report highlights a 16% infrastructure allocation, direct engagement with companies, voting and collaboration through organisations including EOS, LAPFF, Climate Action 100+ and PRI, and continued signatory status to the UK Stewardship Code.
