About Kier Group plc
Kier traces its origins to 1928, when Olaf Hector Kier established the business in Stoke-on-Trent. Today it is a UK-listed group with operations across construction, infrastructure and property, supported by central corporate functions.
The group designs, builds, maintains and operates assets including schools, hospitals, prisons, transport networks, energy projects and water infrastructure. Its construction work spans public and private clients, while its infrastructure business covers aviation, energy, environment, highways, nuclear, ports, rail and water.
Kier is especially strong in complex, recurring UK infrastructure work: it combines project delivery with maintenance and long-term public-sector and regulated-utility relationships. For students, relevant entry points include commercial and project management, engineering and design, finance, procurement, legal, IT and other group functions; its graduate programme runs for two to three years, alongside eight-week summer internships and 12-month industrial placements.
