JMG Group

JMG Group was formed in 2020 through a management buyout of JM Glendinning Insurance Brokers, led by CEO Nick Houghton and backed initially by Synova. In 2025, GTCR invested alongside Synova, while the existing management team remained in place.

The group provides insurance broking and risk-management services across commercial and personal lines, with a particular focus on small and medium-sized businesses and high-net-worth individuals. Its model combines regional broker brands and local client relationships with group-level scale, systems and insurer access.

JMG’s clearest strength is acquisition-led consolidation: it has built a broad UK network by adding established independent and specialist brokers, while generally allowing acquired businesses to retain their local identity. This makes it relevant for students interested in insurance distribution, relationship-led advisory work, mergers and acquisitions, and integration in a growing financial-services platform.
