About Intercontinental Exchange, Inc.
Founded in 2000 to digitize energy markets, Intercontinental Exchange (ICE) has expanded into a diversified financial-markets infrastructure group. Its businesses span exchanges and clearing, fixed-income and market-data services, and mortgage technology, with the NYSE as its best-known asset.
ICE operates futures and options markets across energy, agriculture, interest rates, equities, foreign exchange, metals and credit, alongside six clearing houses. Its energy franchise is particularly important, including oil, natural gas, power and emissions markets, while its data business supports pricing, valuation, analytics and connectivity across institutional workflows.
For students, ICE is closer to a technology-enabled market-infrastructure company than a conventional investment bank: its work centers on electronic trading, exchange operations, clearing and risk management, financial data, listings and mortgage-process automation.
