Highlights
About ICBC Standard Bank Plc
ICBC Standard Bank was created on 1 February 2015, when Industrial and Commercial Bank of China acquired a controlling stake in Standard Bank’s London-based Global Markets business and Standard Bank Plc was renamed ICBC Standard Bank Plc. ICBC owns 60% and Standard Bank Group owns 40%. Its headquarters are in London, with offices in New York, Shanghai and Singapore.
The bank serves as a commodities and financial-markets platform for ICBC and Standard Bank. Its businesses include physical commodities, foreign exchange, fixed income, currencies and primary-market debt issuance, serving corporate, institutional and other professional clients.
Its clearest strengths are commodities and emerging-market products: the firm highlights physical commodities across major markets, while its fixed-income business focuses on emerging-market cash and derivatives, interest-rate, currency and credit products. The combination gives interns exposure to a specialist markets business rather than a broad full-service investment bank.
