Howden Group Holdings

Founded in London in 1994, Howden began as a small insurance broker and has expanded through organic growth and acquisitions. The group remains employee-owned, with employees forming its largest shareholder group.

Howden operates across retail and specialty insurance broking, reinsurance broking, managing general agencies, employee benefits, and insurance-focused data and analytics. Its businesses serve corporates, financial institutions, public-sector organisations, broker partners and individuals across international markets.

The group is particularly strong in specialist and complex risks, with a sizeable reinsurance and capital-markets platform through Howden Re. Its model combines local-market businesses with global specialist capabilities, while maintaining a less centralised structure than many publicly listed insurance brokers.
