About Heidelberg Materials
Founded in Heidelberg, Germany, in 1873, Heidelberg Materials began as a Portland cement producer and has grown into a global integrated manufacturer of cement, aggregates and ready-mixed concrete. The group reported €21.5 billion in revenue for 2025 and operates in almost 50 countries.
Its business is industrial and asset-intensive, spanning quarries, cement plants, concrete production, asphalt and related construction-materials activities. For business students, relevant career areas include finance, strategy, commercial management, operations, procurement, digitalisation and sustainability.
The company is particularly notable for its decarbonisation work. Its Brevik CCS project in Norway was inaugurated in June 2025 as the world's first industrial-scale carbon-capture-and-storage facility in the cement industry, while the company is also developing lower-carbon products, circular-materials solutions and further carbon-capture projects.
