About Hayfin Capital Management
Founded in 2009 by Tim Flynn and Mark Tognolini, Hayfin was created to address the financing gap for mid-sized European businesses after banks retreated from lending. The firm was originally named Haymarket Financial and adopted the Hayfin name in 2013; in 2024, Arctos Partners agreed to support a management buyout from British Columbia Investment Management Corporation.
Hayfin invests across private credit, liquid credit and private equity solutions, providing debt, equity and hybrid capital to non-investment-grade borrowers. Its strategies cover direct lending, special opportunities, high-yield and syndicated loans, and other specialist financing activities across Europe, North America and selected Asian markets.
The firm is particularly relevant for students interested in credit underwriting, private debt and complex capital structures. Its stated investment approach emphasises capital preservation, bottom-up analysis and flexible financing for companies ranging from growth situations to stressed or distressed borrowers.
