Founded in 1869 by Marcus Goldman in Lower Manhattan, Goldman Sachs began as a commercial-paper business and later became a New York Stock Exchange member. The firm is headquartered in New York and operates across major financial centers worldwide.

Its work spans M&A and capital-raising advice, securities trading and financing, investment management across public and private markets, wealth management and selected digital financial products.
