Highlights
About GIC
Established on 22 May 1981, GIC is the Singapore government’s fund manager for the country’s foreign reserves. It does not own the assets it manages: the Ministry of Finance sets the mandate, investment horizon, and risk parameters, while GIC’s management makes investment decisions and reports to the board.
GIC invests across public and private markets, including developed- and emerging-market equities, fixed income, private equity, real estate, infrastructure, and alternative strategies. Its portfolio framework groups investments into equities, fixed income, and real assets, reflecting growth, income, and inflation-protection objectives.
The firm is especially strong in long-horizon portfolio construction, bottom-up company research, cross-asset investing, and risk management. Its scale and global network support direct investing and partnerships across public markets, private equity, infrastructure, and real estate, while its Total Portfolio Strategy Group conducts macroeconomic research and sets long-term capital-allocation strategy.
