About GE Aerospace (formerly General Electric)
General Electric was founded in 1892. Its former conglomerate structure has now been dismantled: GE HealthCare became independent in January 2023, GE Vernova separated in April 2024, and the remaining company became GE Aerospace. The current headquarters is in Cincinnati, Ohio, not Boston.
GE Aerospace designs and produces jet and turboprop engines, along with integrated systems for commercial, military, business and general-aviation aircraft. It also provides long-term maintenance and aftermarket services, with careers spanning engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, digital technology and business functions.
Its main strength is propulsion at global scale: a large installed engine base creates recurring services demand, while the company continues investing in more efficient engines, alternative-fuel compatibility, advanced manufacturing and next-generation military propulsion. The former GE energy and healthcare businesses are no longer part of this company.
