About Gen Re

Gen Re is the trading name for General Reinsurance Corporation and General Reinsurance AG, with roots in a U.S. business founded in 1921 and the historic Cologne Re organization founded in 1846. It has been part of Berkshire Hathaway since 1998.

The group provides reinsurance solutions to primary insurers across property & casualty and life & health markets. Its work combines underwriting, actuarial analysis, claims expertise, risk management and client-facing business development rather than the investment-banking or asset-management activities associated with many finance employers.
