About Garanti BBVA

Founded in Ankara in 1946, Garanti BBVA began as a joint-stock bank established by 103 cofounders and moved its headquarters to Istanbul in 1950. BBVA became a strategic partner in 2011 and increased its ownership to 85.97% in 2022; the bank adopted the Garanti BBVA name in 2019.

The bank operates across retail, commercial, SME, corporate, private, and investment banking, as well as payment systems. Its wider financial-services group includes businesses in pensions and life insurance, leasing, factoring, investment management, and portfolio management, with international subsidiaries in the Netherlands and Romania.

Garanti BBVA is especially strong in Türkiye’s private-bank lending market and digital distribution. At December 31, 2025, it reported a 22.1% share of Turkish-lira loans among private banks, more than 30 million customers, 6,558 ATMs, and 23,311 employees including subsidiaries.
