About Global Founders Capital

Global Founders Capital was founded in 2013 by Rocket Internet co-founder Oliver Samwer and is headquartered in Berlin. It began as an independently managed venture investor with a global mandate and later became Rocket Internet’s venture arm.

GFC invests primarily in technology companies, backing founders from early stages and across sectors rather than specialising in one vertical. Its portfolio includes companies such as Revolut, Personio, SumUp and Delivery Hero, reflecting a focus on scalable software, fintech, marketplaces and other technology-enabled businesses.

In 2024, the firm announced a strategic shift away from raising another external fund: it would invest from Rocket Internet’s balance sheet, with €300 million allocated for venture investments. For applicants, this points to a smaller, more concentrated platform than the firm’s earlier fund-management model, with particular relevance for early-stage sourcing, investment analysis and founder-facing work.
