EquiLend was formed in 2001 by leading global financial institutions and went live in 2002. It was built as independent infrastructure for the securities finance market, connecting participants across North America, EMEA, and Asia-Pacific.

The firm provides trading, workflow automation, post-trade, regulatory, data, and digital solutions for securities lending and related activities. Its clients include banks, broker-dealers, hedge funds, asset managers, custodians, and other institutional market participants.

EquiLend is especially strong in electronic securities-finance trading through NGT, front-to-back process automation, and market intelligence through DataLend. Its proposition is the integration of execution, lifecycle processing, analytics, and shared digital infrastructure rather than a single standalone trading product.
