About Engelhart Commodities Trading Partners
Engelhart was founded in 2013 by BTG Pactual Group, initially as BTG Commodities; it placed its first trade in October 2013 and was reorganised under the Engelhart Commodities Trading Partners name in 2016. The firm operates from 12 offices in 9 countries.
The business combines a financial trading platform covering energy, agriculture, freight and metals and minerals with a physical and client business focused on renewables, power, gas, carbon and freight. Engelhart does not own or operate physical assets, making its model relatively asset-light.
Its clearest strengths are quantitative research, proprietary analytics, weather forecasting and risk management applied to commodity markets. The August 2024 acquisition of Trailstone expanded its renewable power, natural-gas and energy-technology capabilities, making the energy transition a central part of its current strategy.
