About EET Fuels

EET Fuels is the trading name adopted by Essar Oil (UK) Limited in January 2024. The underlying business acquired the Stanlow refinery in 2011 and operates the Stanlow Manufacturing Complex and associated terminals in Ellesmere Port, Cheshire.

The company is primarily a downstream fuels and refining operator, producing transport fuels and chemicals while developing a transition plan for its existing industrial base. Its strategy combines energy efficiency, fuel switching, low-carbon hydrogen and industrial carbon capture, linked to the HyNet North West cluster.

EET Fuels is especially relevant for students interested in large-scale industrial decarbonisation: its portfolio spans refinery operations, hydrogen production, carbon capture and storage infrastructure, and biofuel logistics rather than being a pure-play renewable-energy developer.
