E.ON SE
German energy infrastructure group focused on distribution networks, retail supply and decarbonisation solutions.
Highlights
About E.ON SE
E.ON was formed in June 2000 through the merger of VEBA and VIAG and is headquartered in Essen, Germany. The group has since shifted from a broad utility portfolio toward regulated energy networks, retail supply and energy infrastructure services.
Its core activities are electricity and gas distribution, energy retail, and infrastructure solutions for businesses, cities and industrial sites. These solutions include district heating and cooling, onsite generation, charging infrastructure, energy efficiency and digital tools for managing distributed energy systems.
E.ON’s strongest position is in distribution networks: it operates Europe’s largest energy distribution grid and is Germany’s largest distribution-system operator. Its scale gives it a central role in connecting renewable generation, electrification and flexible demand to local grids, rather than primarily competing as a conventional power generator.
