DV Trading

DV Trading was founded in 2006 in Toronto as a proprietary trading group within a U.S. futures commission merchant and expanded to Chicago. It became independent in 2016 after spinning out from its former parent brokerage firm.

The firm trades with its own capital across futures, options, fixed income, equities, foreign exchange and cryptocurrency products. Its model combines liquidity provision, quantitative and discretionary trading, proprietary software, market data, risk management and execution infrastructure.

DV’s clearest specialization is commodities: its DV Commodities business trades crude oil, refined products, natural gas, power and emissions, and reports more than 35 desks. For students, the firm is most relevant to trading, quantitative research, software engineering, risk and market-infrastructure roles rather than traditional investment banking.
