Crédit Agricole
French cooperative banking group combining retail banking with corporate finance, asset management, insurance and green-finance capabilities.
Highlights
About Crédit Agricole
Crédit Agricole traces its origins to the Méline Act of 1894, which enabled the creation of local agricultural lending banks; regional banks followed in 1899. Its cooperative structure remains central to the Group, although it has since expanded well beyond agricultural lending through acquisitions and specialist subsidiaries.
The Group operates a customer-focused universal-banking model: French and international retail banks are linked to Crédit Agricole CIB, Amundi, Crédit Agricole Assurances, Indosuez Wealth Management, CACEIS, consumer finance, leasing, factoring and payment businesses. This gives interns potential exposure to a broad range of banking and financial-services roles rather than a single product area.
Crédit Agricole is especially strong in French retail banking, European asset management through Amundi, and financing for energy and infrastructure transition. Its green-finance platform covers lending, project finance and bond issuance, with activity spanning renewable energy, green buildings, clean transportation and sustainable agriculture.
