Colliers traces its roots to Macaulay Nicolls, founded in British Columbia in 1898, and is headquartered in Toronto. It has expanded from a commercial real estate services business into a diversified platform, adding investment management in 2016 and engineering in 2020.

The firm advises occupiers, owners, developers, investors and public-sector clients across commercial real estate, including leasing, capital markets, valuation, property management, project management and workplace services. Its engineering business extends into infrastructure, program management and other built-asset services.

Colliers is especially strong in combining local brokerage and advisory teams with global capital-markets coverage. Its investment-management business was rebranded Harrison Street Asset Management in 2025; it now spans real estate, infrastructure and credit strategies rather than operating solely under the former Colliers Global Investors name.
