About CME Group

CME Group traces its history to Chicago's futures markets, with the CME exchange established in 1848. The modern group brings together four designated contract markets: CME, CBOT, NYMEX and COMEX.

It operates markets for futures and options on interest rates, equity indexes, foreign exchange, energy, agricultural products, metals and cryptocurrencies, alongside cash and OTC markets. Its electronic trading platforms include CME Globex, BrokerTec and EBS, while CME Clearing acts as the central counterparty to futures, options and OTC trades.

The firm's clearest strengths are scale, liquidity and market infrastructure. In 2025, it handled record average daily volume across several asset classes, including interest rates, energy, agriculture, metals and cryptocurrencies, while its internship program spans commercial, finance, operations, technology, legal and post-trade roles.
