About Clearwater

Clearwater was founded in Birmingham in 2003 by Phil Burns and has since developed from a UK advisory business into a European corporate finance firm. It rebranded from Clearwater International to Clearwater during its FY2024/25 financial year.

The firm advises business owners, private equity investors and corporates on M&A and debt advisory, with additional capabilities in financial modelling, data analytics and ESG advisory. Its work is organised around sectors including business services, technology, financial services, healthcare, industrials, consumer and energy.

Clearwater is especially relevant for students interested in mid-market transactions, sector-focused advisory and cross-border work. Its strongest recent activity has included business services, technology and tech services, industrials and healthcare, supported by a European office network and a US partnership with KeyBanc Capital Markets.
