About Charities Aid Foundation
Charities Aid Foundation traces its roots to 1924, when the UK’s National Council of Social Service established a Charities Department to make tax-efficient giving easier. It became an independent charity and formally adopted the CAF name on 2 October 1974.
CAF works with individual and corporate donors, charities and social enterprises. Its activities include donor-advised and corporate giving, grantmaking, impact advice, social investment, research and policy work, and financial services through CAF Bank and CAF Financial Solutions Limited.
Its strongest differentiator is the combination of philanthropic infrastructure and regulated-style financial expertise: CAF facilitates cross-border giving, supports charity resilience and operates an international group spanning the UK, North America and partner organisations worldwide. In 2024/25, it distributed more than £1.20 billion on behalf of donors and businesses.
