Centrica Energy

Centrica Energy is the energy trading and optimisation arm of Centrica plc. Its commercial PPA business dates back to the first long-term UK PPA it offered in 2005; the business now operates as an international platform spanning European and US energy markets.

The firm trades power, gas, LNG and green certificates, connecting renewable generators, suppliers, large energy users and financial counterparties. Its services include power purchase agreements, corporate PPAs, portfolio optimisation, balancing, gas supply, asset management and battery-storage optimisation.

It is particularly strong in managing renewable and flexible assets: its 2025 annual report describes a 19.5 GW portfolio under contract and a 672 MW battery portfolio, while its 2026 renewable trading update reports 18.8 GW of renewable and flexible capacity under management.
