Carter Jonas

Founded in Cambridge in 1855 by John Carter Jonas as an auctioneer, the firm later expanded through mergers and acquisitions across England and Wales. It became a limited liability partnership in 2003 and is now a multidisciplinary property partnership with a national network.

Carter Jonas advises on commercial property, residential sales and lettings, rural estates, planning and development, infrastructure, valuations, asset management and building consultancy. Its work spans private clients, investors, developers, housebuilders, businesses, universities, local authorities and other public-sector organisations.

The firm is especially strong where several property disciplines need to be combined: planning and development, public-sector estate strategy, science and technology parks, infrastructure and energy, and premium residential property. Its public-sector team works with more than 150 local authorities and public- and third-sector organisations, while its residential business gives sellers access to more than 29,000 registered buyers.
