Canaccord’s business originated in 1950 as a regional Canadian broker-dealer. The group adopted the Canaccord Capital name in 1992 and acquired Genuity Capital Markets in 2010, creating the Canaccord Genuity brand used for its global capital-markets business.

Canaccord Genuity provides investment banking, M&A and private-capital advisory, equity and debt underwriting, equity research, sales and trading, and corporate broking. Its capital-markets operations span Canada, the US, the UK and Europe, Australia and Asia, while the wider group also operates wealth-management businesses in Canada, the UK and Crown Dependencies, and Australia.
