Brit Insurance

Brit is a London-headquartered specialty insurer and reinsurer with a 25-year history in global underwriting. It has been part of Fairfax Financial Holdings since June 2015 and became wholly owned by Fairfax in December 2024. From January 2025, Brit operates separately from Ki, its former digital follow-market business.

Brit writes complex commercial insurance and reinsurance primarily through Lloyd’s Syndicates 2987 and 2988, alongside its Bermuda-based Brit Re platform. Its portfolio spans more than 55 product lines, including cyber, marine, energy, property and casualty, financial institutions and reinsurance.

The firm is especially strong in lead underwriting, complex and high-value risks, claims expertise and treaty reinsurance. For a business student, relevant functions extend beyond underwriting into actuarial, analytics, technology and data, claims, finance, operations and risk management.
