The Boeing Company

Founded by William Boeing on July 15, 1916, as Pacific Aero Products, the company was renamed Boeing Airplane Company in 1917. Its corporate headquarters are in Arlington, Virginia, near Washington, D.C.

Boeing develops, manufactures and services commercial airplanes, defense products and space systems for customers in more than 150 countries. Its three main business units are Commercial Airplanes, Defense, Space & Security, and Boeing Global Services.

The company is particularly strong in large-scale aerospace manufacturing, commercial freighters and integrated defense and space systems. Boeing also operates a substantial services business covering engineering, maintenance, training, supply-chain support and digital analytics—relevant areas for students interested in finance, operations, procurement or program management.
