About BNP Paribas
BNP Paribas was established on 23 May 2000 through the merger of Banque Nationale de Paris (BNP) and Paribas. Its predecessor institutions give the group roots extending back more than two centuries, but the current group is a post-2000 European banking platform.
The group combines three operating divisions: Commercial, Personal Banking & Services; Corporate & Institutional Banking; and Investment & Protection Services. Its activities span retail and commercial banking, consumer finance, leasing and mobility, corporate lending, transaction banking, capital markets, securities services, asset management, private banking and insurance.
For students interested in investment banking, BNP Paribas is particularly strong in European financing and markets. In 2024, its Corporate & Institutional Banking division generated €17.9 billion in revenue and ranked first in several EMEA financing categories, including debt capital markets and loans, while also ranking first globally in ESG bonds and loans.
