About Berenberg
Founded in Hamburg in 1590 by Hans and Paul Berenberg, Berenberg evolved from an international trading house into a privately owned bank managed by personally liable partners. It is headquartered in Hamburg and has a strong presence in Frankfurt, London, and New York.
Berenberg operates across investment banking, wealth and asset management, and corporate banking. Its investment bank advises companies, entrepreneurs, and investors on M&A and capital-markets transactions, while corporate banking focuses on capital-market-oriented and medium-sized companies, including clients in shipping, real estate, infrastructure and energy, and structured finance.
The firm is particularly strong in pan-European equity research and equity-capital-markets work. Its research team covered 772 stocks at the end of 2024, and in 2025 the bank completed 37 equity-capital-markets transactions worth €11.5 billion and advised 72 UK corporate-broking clients.
