Barings

The Barings name dates to 1762, but today’s investment manager was formed in 2016 when four MassMutual-affiliated asset-management businesses were brought together under one brand. Barings remains a subsidiary of MassMutual and has a minority investment from MS&AD.

Barings manages public and private-market investments for institutional, insurance and wealth clients. Its platform covers credit and insurance, real assets, capital solutions and emerging markets, including direct lending, private placements, high-yield debt, real estate, infrastructure debt and specialty finance.

The firm is particularly strong in credit-related strategies and private-market financing. Its careers materials highlight a global platform of more than 2,000 teammates, with investment work spanning public fixed income, private credit, real assets and emerging-markets debt and equity.
