About Baker Hughes Company
Baker Hughes traces its operating heritage to 1907, when Reuben C. Baker patented a casing shoe for oil wells. The Baker Hughes company was formed in 1987 through the combination of Baker International and Hughes Tool Company; it later combined with GE Oil & Gas in 2017 and became independent under the Baker Hughes name in 2019.
Today, Baker Hughes provides equipment, services and software across oilfield services, industrial and energy technology, and Chart’s industrial technologies. Its portfolio includes drilling and production systems, subsea equipment, LNG and gas infrastructure, turbomachinery, industrial software, process technologies and emissions-reduction solutions.
The firm is especially strong where complex engineering and long-term industrial operations overlap: LNG, gas technology, rotating equipment, oilfield systems and digital monitoring. Its scale gives interns exposure to a global engineering and industrial business rather than a narrowly focused oilfield-services provider.
