Babcock traces its roots to 1891, when Babcock & Wilcox Limited was incorporated in Britain. Its present-day business has evolved from industrial engineering into specialist support for complex, safety-critical assets and infrastructure.

The group provides through-life engineering across four sectors: Marine, Nuclear, Land and Aviation. Its work includes asset management, frontline and equipment support, design and manufacture, systems integration, technical training, maintenance, upgrades and decommissioning for defence and civil customers.

Babcock is especially strong in long-duration, high-barrier programmes where customers need a platform or facility kept operational over decades. Its core positions include naval shipbuilding and submarine support, civil and defence nuclear services, military training, land-systems support and aviation services.
