AVEVA traces its origins to 1967, when it launched as CADCentre, a Cambridge-based initiative that pioneered computer-aided design for industry. It became AVEVA in 2001 and later combined with Schneider Electric’s software business; Schneider Electric completed its acquisition of AVEVA in January 2023.

The company develops software spanning engineering design, capital-project execution, industrial operations, asset performance, data management and visualization. Its customers include organizations in energy, manufacturing, infrastructure, water, mining, pharmaceuticals and marine industries.

AVEVA is especially strong in connecting engineering information with real-time operational data. Its portfolio includes industrial data management through the PI System, process and plant design, manufacturing execution, predictive analytics, asset-performance management, digital twins and the CONNECT industrial intelligence platform.
